We had the
opportunity to give a presentation at Celebrate Santa Clara: STEM Zone
(hosted by City of Santa Clara and Santa Clara City Library in
partnership with Santa Clara University). Amy hosted the presentation,
asking Mike to share stories about how his droid building turned from
hobby to career. She asked him questions and shared photos as he told
stories from his work on Obi Wan Kenobi and Skeleton Crew on Disney+. We
brought R5-DT graffiti droid to greet event guests for photos and
autographs, in the lobby of the Santa Clara Convention Center.
Our
friends Romano & Connie Bassi brought their mouse droid to share,
with their amazing officer mice inside. Paul Thompson shared his
incredible Grogu. We enjoyed visiting with droid builders from other
parts of California. We enjoyed seeing friends and family from the Bay
Area who came to hear our presentation.
We had the pleasure of meeting some of the other event presenters: Kari Byron, from Mythbusters, a fellow friend of Grant Imahara. And Tracy Fanara, PhD, a nationally recognized environmental engineer and science communicator. It was a honor to talk with female scientists who are paving the way for future STEM leaders of the Bay Area and beyond.
STEM Zone is where Silicon Valley Sparks innovation and fun. It’s a platform where students, innovators, and local companies can showcase technology, sustainability, and creativity alongside the global excitement of major sports.
